Case Study: Bar code tracking helped one customer win new business with Airborne.
Halbart Express
Problem:
Halbart wanted to provide outsourcing services to Airborne Express; however, they could
not generate the necessary electronic paperwork from Airborne's airbills. As a result,
Airborne was unable to consider Halbart as a potential vendor.
Solution:
Imperial developed a bar code scanning system and enabled Halbart's systems to have
access to, and exchange information with, Airborne's IBM mainframes. The system scanned
the applicable airbills; and extracted, transformed and loaded the captured information
to a system that generated delivery manifests. Last, the system automatically alerted
Airborne to changes in airbill routes.
Result:
Halbart won Airborne's business. Additionally, Halbart received considerable praise for
generating manifests that, according to third parties, were "the clearest we've ever read."
